I lost touch with books for about a decade because of life but thankfully I am able to return to this beautiful world. Eclectic mix from YA to erotica. I blame fanfic.
I wanted to give this book a higher rating but to maintain credibility I gave it 3 1/2 stars because honestly I didn't enjoy this book as much as I wished. The premise is interesting and finely written by Alice Hoffman as you would expect. I loved the Jewish mysticism, which added a beautiful layer to the setting which was already deep and detailed. There are insights and wonderful imagery but for me it faltered on the plot. I don't think I liked it being split into four parts and perhaps would have preferred it being interwoven somehow but that's not really my prerogative. I wished there had been more interaction rather than just connection between them. Some regard this as her masterpiece but I disagree, she's done better. I would recommended though because it is a good read.
